Tropical Storm Colin paid us a visit this week.
We had planned to spend a couple of weeks in Ft Myers Beach but our stay was extended by the storm. The mooring balls here seemed like a safer bet than being anchored out. The storm hit during the night Sunday. We had heavy rain and winds at maybe 25 to 30 knots. It was an uncomfortable night but we didn't feel unsafe. On Monday it was calm for a while in the morning but by afternoon the back side of the storm caught us. Some heavy rain and some thunder, a few hits close by but we were fine.
By Tuesday afternoon it was sunny and wind had slacked considerably.
Other than some serious rocking during the night Sunday (which knocked a few items off the galley counter) we had no damage other than loss of a little sleep.
We stopped by Petey's Upper Deck bar at Mantanzas Inn a couple of times. Kelly, the barkeep took good care of us. The Jerk wings are pretty good and the pizza is great. Good selection of draft beer. Very convenient to the dinghy dock.
One effect of the storm was some very high tides. After doing some laundry on Sunday morning the tide was so high we couldn't get to the dinghy dock. We went to Petey's for a beer while we waited for the tide to lower.
It's been an interesting few days.

Sunset celebration
On Friday night we went to "Times Square " for the weekly sunset celebration. Heard a really unusual band called High Tide. Good vocals, one of the cleanest sound I've ever heard in a live performance. Their specialty seems to be creating medlies from songs you'd never think would fit together. Like "Ain't no sunshine" and "Get up Stand up." Or "Into the Mystic" and "Into don't want to wait in vain." Van Morrison and Bob Marley? Yep. It works.

Ft. Myers Beach
Getting settled in for the holiday weekend here in the mooring field at Ft. Myers Beach. The balls are inconsistent. Some have good pennants, some not so good.
We had a nice pleasant sail from Naples. Beam reach all the way. A little slow because of light winds but a nice relaxing day.
Went ashore yesterday and did happy hour at the Yucatan Beach Stand. Good jerk wings, but not quite enough heat. Went across the street to the House of Brews. Great selection of craft beers on draft. 50 beers on tap and 200 bottles. Tried a few of the local brews. Definitely going back.
On our way now to sunset at the beach.
