Yeah, I know it's been a while.
In May of 2017, Queequeg was hauled out for a bottom job, some minor fiberglass repairs and a new cutlass bearing. While the prop was being removed, the prop shaft broke. Our friend Diesel Don helped us measure and order the new shaft, but we had to drop the rudder to get the old shaft out. A quick haulout and relaunch turned into weeks in the yard. By the time we were back in the water it was time to take the car north to babysit the newest Grandchild, Izzy.
And then....Irma. I'll post a detailed story of our Irma experience in a later entry.
Now, we are gearing up for another attempt at completing the "Great Loop." Hard to believe it was almost 12 years ago we set out on Walkure with the plan of "doing the Loop." in one year!
Since our return to the boat after Irma we have built a new stack pack for the mainsail, installed a new GPS/Radar combo, built a new bimini and installed weather cloths in the cockpit. I a few days we'll be installing a new autopilot.
Then it will be back to the yard to haul out and repair the (hopefully) minor damage the hull sustained during Irma.
Once all that is out of the way, it's stock up the boat with provisions, water and fuel and we're off!
Look for update to appear here from our SPOT messenger. Each SPOT post will include a link to a map with our location marked. Even if we cannot get to write a post and send to Blogger, SPOT has the link.
