We just got back from a week of social distancing.
We took Queequeg out for a bit of a shakedown cruise. We sailed out past the 7 Mile Bridge to Little Pine Key.
On the way out, we were running the engine to get through the bridge when we heard a loud pop and water stopped coming out the exhaust. As soon as we passed the bridge we shut it down and sailed, under job alone, to Teakettle Key for repairs. It turned out that we burst a water hose. I was able to make temporary repairs by cutting away the split section.
That was good enough to get us over Little Pine, where we spent a - mostly- relaxing week. Two of the nights the winds were over 20 knots and the waves kicked up a bit, making sleep just about impossible. We worried both nights about the anchor but it held fine.
The rest of the time we spent relaxing, reading, watching quarantine concerts on Facebook and enjoying our adult beverages.
Covid 19 has put a crimp in our plans for the summer. We hoped to finish the loop this year, but it looks unlikely due to so many marina closures on our way.
